Coal Cracker Brewing

If you've been here before, you'll notice the page has a bit of a different look. I have also added some more items to DIY. Instead of having DIY be just of the brewery, I created links to each individual project. I think this will keep the site a bit cleaner than cluttering multiple projects together.

New updates!!
Been extremely busy the past week or two working on the brewery. I got a lot done but still have a lot more to do. I am starting to get antsy and can't wait to brew on this beast. I'm thinking the inaugural brew might be some type of brown ale. Not sure if I want to do an American Brown or a Maltier English Brown. Let me know which you would chose. If neither, give me something you would brew.

Local competition
I entered a local competition this weekend with the Centennial IPA listed on the Recipe page. I didn't place overall but I am hoping I placed with in my category. I should know soon.

Oktoberfest @ Mohegan!
Hit up an Oktoberfest this weekend! Tried a few seasonals that I haven't had before. One that really surprised me was Steigmaier Pumpkin Ale. Was like drinking a slice of Pumpkin Pie. In my opinion is was much better than DFH Punkin'.

Well over the past two weeks I've had a pretty busy go of it. The brewery you see pictured above has been sold!! Made the deal while sitting on the beach! New owner took deliver of it on Friday. In doing that, I started buying stuff for the new brewery. This will be a 20g-1bbl brewery. I placed an order for a 42g stainless barrel, and a MT and HLT from www.brewershardware.com. Derrin has been fantastic to work with. Highly recommended. I also ordered some things for the control panel. This will be a 30 amp panel that will control a 5500w element in the boil kettle and the HLT. Also ordered a new saw to cut the steel. That's all for now! Pictures to follow!

Over the past few weeks I've brewed about thirty gallons of beer. Last night I went to keg the beers and ended up dumping 20 of the 30 gallons due to infection. So PISSED!! All that hard work and time. Done with plate chillers. They are way to hard to sterilize. After cleaning mine out, after every brew I decided to really give it a good cleaning. What came out was appalling. Back to an immersion for me.

Welcome!
After brewing for the last two years, I've decided it would be a good idea to share upcoming brews, upgrades to the brewery, and just general homebrew thoughts! Hope you find the information here helpful!
